Congress charges TDP, CPI(M) with double talk
Hyderabad, Oct 5 (UNI) The Congress today charged the TDP, CPI(M) and other opposition parties of indulging in double talk on the rehabilitation policy for the displaced, whose lands were acquired by the government for public purpose.
Talking to newspersons here, Congress Chief Whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Whip D Sridhar Babu and CLP Executive Committee Member V Vasanta Kumar sought to know if the TDP had given land for land as it was demanding now, when it acquired 5,000 acres of land for the Rajiv International Airport at Shamshabad.
The Congress leaders asked if the CPI(M) government was following the policy of land for land for the 47,000 acre fertile land it was acquiring for the Special Economic Zones.
Stating that the state government was acquiring 5 lakh acres for the irrigation projects, the Congress leaders questioned if it was possible to acquire another 5 lakh acres for the rehabilitation of the displaced persons.
They also found fault with the CPI(M) leaders, who considered the West Bengal government as the role model for the entire country.
They alleged that the West Bengal government had tried to silence Mamata Benerjee through the police when she raised her voice against the irregularities of the state government.
The Congress leaders said the progressive policies of the Rajasekhara Reddy government were showing results and the state was progressing on the path of development.
They reminded that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had appreciated the steps taken by the state government and advised other states to emulate the example of Andhra Pradesh.
