Cabinet approves post of Chief Executive for Fisheries Board

New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) A new post of Chief Executive will be created in the National Fisheries Development Board set up under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.

The approval for the post was given by the Union Cabinet at its meeting held here today.

The Chief Executive, who is to receive a pay scale of Rs 22400-26000, will be a renowned professional in the field of fisheries with suitable academic qualifications and requisite administrative experience.

In case a suitable professional with administrative experience was not available, an administrator with proven record and adequate exposure to fisheries development work would be considered for appointment to the post.

The Fisheries Board was set up with the objective of bringing major activities relating to fisheries and aquaculture for focussed attention and professional management. Its job is to coordinate activities relating to fisheries undertaken by different agencies, to improve procession, storage, transport and marketing of fish and products.

The activities undertaken by NFDB would generate direct employment to 3.5 million people and income of Rs 95 crore per annum to the Board.
