BSF killed one Bangladeshi log smuggler

Agartala, Oct 5 (UNI) Border Security Force (BSF) jawans shot dead a Bangladeshi miscreant while he was smuggling logs by cutting the fence in Tripura's Dhalai district early this morning.

Police said a gang of 15 Bangladeshi log smugglers was engaged in smuggling wooden logs at a place between Madhabnagar and Samarganj, under Manu police Station at about 0430 hrs by cutting the fencing wire on the international border.

A BSF patrol party challenged the miscreants who opened fire to prevent smuggling of natural wealth from the Indian side. A Bangladeshi smuggler died on the spot.

Police officials from Manu, led by the SDPO, rushed to the spot to ascertain the incident, the sources added.

Further investigation are on.
