Britain, Haryana to mutually promote entrepreneurs

Chandigarh, Oct 5 (UNI) Haryana and Britain today decided to extend mutual assistance to their entrepreneurs in setting up ventures and further strengthen bilateral relations.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, while interacting with Economic and Commercial Counsellor of British High Commission Jane Owen here, offered opportunities to the entrepreneurs of Britain in the areas of automobiles, textiles, information technology, power, food processing, pharmaceuticals and leather.

Ms Jane Owen, who had called on Mr Hooda, also offered all assistance to the entrepreneurs of Haryana to facilitate them in setting up their ventures.

She said that efforts were being made to further improve bilateral relations between India and UK.

It was decided that Haryana and British High Commission would appoint Nodal Officers to further discuss modalities for strengthening mutual cooperation in the industrial sector, especially for setting up of ventures.

The Chief Minister said the Central Government has approved in principle 150 proposals of setting up of Special Economic Zones (sezs) and out of these 37 were for Haryana.

He said the industrial scenario was fast changing in the state. As against the total investment of Rs 40,000 crore made in the state in the last 40 years since its inception in 1966, an investment of Rs 10,000 crore had come to the state during the past about one-and-a-half years of the present government. Besides, projects involving Rs 35,000 crore were under implementation in the state, he added.

The Chief Minister said more industrial estates would come up at Rohtak, Faridabad and near Jagadhari.

He said that with a view to facilitate entrepreneurs in setting up of their ventures, an Investment Promotion Centre has been set up by Haryana Government in Delhi.

Mr Hooda said he would be leading an official and business delegation to European countries from October 8 to 19 to market Haryana as the ultimate choice for entrepreneurs. He said starting from Holland, the delegation would visit Germany, France, U K and Spain.
