BJP workers clash with police outside Bhopal airport

Bhopal, Oct 5 (UNI) BJP workers and police personnel clashed outside Raja Bhoj airport here today immediately after senior BJP leader L K Advani arrived for a day's visit to Madhya Pradesh.

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's Bhopal unit President Rahul Rajput was injured when a police official hit his face with a wireless set, eye witnesses said.

The clash occurred after a heated argument as the policemen deployed outside the airport stopped a car belonging to Municipal Corporation Chairperson Ramdayal Prajapati from joining Mr Advani's carcade heading towards the city's Bairagarh area, where Mr Advani was scheduled to attend a college function.

Superintendent of Police A K Singh said no FIR has been registered in this connection.

Meanwhile, BJP sources said senior party leaders were making efforts to pacify the agitated party workers.
