BJP to finalise its candidates tomorrow for by-elections
New Delhi, Oct 5 (UNI) The Central Election Committee of the BJP will meet tomorrow to finalise the party's nominees for the October 30 by-elections to various Lok Sabha and State Assembly constituencies.
The constituencies the party will finalise its nominees for include Vidisha and Bhagalpur Lok Sabha seats vacated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi respectively.
The party will also finalise its nominee for the Bada Malhera assembly seat in MP where the vacancy was caused by former Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janshakti leader Uma Bharti. She is expected to contest the elections from either this constituency or from Vidisha.
The party will also field its nominee against its former vice president and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, who quit his Koderma seat and will recontest it on his own political outfit's symbol.
The party will also take a final decision about fielding its nominee in the Chimur assembly seat in Maharashtra where the party is impressing upon the leadership to field its own candidate in view of the changed political equation within the Shiv Sena, the BJP's ally in the state.
