Xilinx Inc opens development centre in India
Hyderabad, Oct 04 (UNI) Xilinx Inc, the world's leading supplier of programmable logic solutions, today announced the opening of its own development centre in India, located in a 33,000 sq ft facility in CyberPearl, Hyderabad.
The facility would initially have about 75 staff and the capacity to hold up to 300 employees to support the company's growth plans in India over the next several years.
Kris Chellam, Senior Vice-President, Global Enterprise Services, Xilinx Inc said, their worldwide strategy was to invest in high growth markets, to support customers and increase local presence.
Xilinx would manage and operate the centre which was responsible for the full product development lifecycle of Intellectual Property (IP) cores in the high-growth areas of automotive electronics, embedded processing and high-speed serial I/O connectivity.
IP cores were pre-engineered functional modules Xilinx customers used to reduce development time of their programmable system designs.
He said the new site in Hyderabad was one of their largest development facilities outside the US and it enabled tapping the excellent pool of local engineering talent, thereby strengthening global R and D ecosystem.
Managing Director of Xilinx's development centre in India Akshya Prakash said through their strategic relationship with CMC since 2004, they had established a strong development track record in India delivering over 35 locally-designd IP cores to-date, of which more than half were based on cutting-edge 65 nm process technology.
With their own facility in Hyderabad, they would enter the next phase of growth in India, building up local workforce and increasing engagement with leading local design houses and universities.
Managing Director and CEO of CMC Ltd R Ramanan said their world-class collaboration with Xilinx in the area of programmable IP core design had been a successful, productive venture. They had been looking forward to new opportunities to work together to create leading programmable solutions, especially in the area of embedded systems, for electronic designers in India and around the world.
In February 2004, Xilinx announced a strategic relationship with CMC Ltd to work on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) IP cores.
These IP cores were developed for telecommunications, consumer electronics and automotive applications and were available for use by Xilinix's worldwide customer base of over 7,500 companies and over 2,00,000 design engineers generating 50,000 design annually.
Building on this momentum, Xilinx was today formally opening its own development centre located in CyberPearl, Hyderabad.
Xilinx deeply valued its relationship with CMC and would continue to work with it in local development activities and other areas related to IT and customer services, explained Mr Chellam.
Agreeing with him, Mr Ramanan said CMC also treasured its relationship with Xilinx and they would leaverage their FPGA competencies and design service capabilities to continue providing value-added work to their activities in India.
