Windies romp home victorious

Ahmedabad, Oct 4 (UNI) The powerful West Indies snuffed a fighting GCA Presidents XI in a practice match played at the Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera, here today.

The Windies won by handsome 173 runs. Chasing a huge target of 345 runs for victory the GCA President's XI managed to score only 171 runs losing 6 wickets in their alloted 50 overs with Dhiraj Patel top scoring with 37 in 51 balls.

West Indies were helped to their mammoth score of 344 runs for five wickets after batting first due to a magnificient 101 in just 76 balls by Chris Gayle.

R Morton who had stroked a superb run a ball 91 later took three wickets for just 13 runs.

The captain of the homeside Nilesh Modi though disappointed with the result however said that he was satisfied with performance of his team playing against one of the best teams in the world.
