Windies opt to bat in practice match against GCA XI, Lara rested
Ahmedabad, Oct 4 (UNI) The West Indies won the toss and elected to bat in a practice match against the GCA Presidents XI at Motera stadium here today.
The match is being played in the run up to the Champions Trophy which starts October7.
The local side suffered a setback as captain Mukund Parmar had to pull out of the match after he incurred an injury yesterday at the nets. Veteran Parmar had been called out of retirement to lead the team.
Parthiv Patel is also not playing in the match as he is busy with the Challenger Trophy in Chennai.
West Indies, meanwhile, chose to leave out their regular skipper Brian Lara and pacer Ian Bradshaw. Ramnaresh Sarwan will lead the side in Lara's absence.
