Varanasi blast case hearing on Oct 18
Varanasi, Oct 4 (UNI) Extending the judicial remand of Mohd Waliullah -- mastermind of March 7 Varanasi twin blast -- by 14 more days, a sessions court today posted the high-profile case for hearing to October 18.
Special Judge (Essential Commodities Act) Narendra Singh Rawal, extending the judicial remand of Waliullah by 14 more days, posted the three cases -- Sankatmochan temple blast, Varanasi Cantonment railway station blast and pressure cooker borne explosive recovery case -- for hearing to October 18.
Trial proceedings in the case could not take place in the day owing to the death of a local lawyer, even as Waliullah made a plea to the court for hiring a lawyer to contest his case.
At least 18 people were killed and over 100 others wounded, when two powerful blasts rocked the Sankatmochan temple and Varanasi Cantt railway station on March seven within a span of 15 minutes.
Six ultras including Waliullah are accused in the case, four of whom are absconding, while another accused was gunned down by the Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh Police on March 8 on the outskirts of Lucknow.
