Two policemen killed, 10 wounded in Srinagar fidayeen attack

Srinagar, Oct 4 (UNI) Two Jammu and Kashmir police personnel were killed and ten others wounded in a heavy exchange of fire between security forces and Al-Mansoorian militants, who made an abortive bid to storm the heavily-guarded Dashnami Akhara building, housing the holy mace of Lord Shiva, near here today.

Special Operations Group (SOG) head constable Showkat Ahmad and constable Ranbir Singh were killed and many other jawans wounded when militants fired upon them after they tried to storm the Standard hotel near the Dashnami Akhara building in which the ultras have taken refuge since this morning.

However, a group of security personnel, wearing bullet proof jackets have managed to enter the hotel building, official sources said.
