Two militants killed in south Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Oct 4 (UNI) Two militants were killed by troops in a fierce encounter in south Kashmir today, a defence ministry spokesman said.

He said Army and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at Ashimuqam in south Kashmir district of Anantnag early this morning.

However, when troops were sealing the area, militants attacked them with automatic weapons and also hurled hand grenades.

Security forces also retaliated and in the fierce clash two militants were killed. Two AK rifles and other arms and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants.
