Two groups clash: police open fire in AP
Nizamabad, Andhra Pradesh, Oct 4 (UNI) The Police opened fire after a lathi charge failed to disperse two clashing groups at Bodhan town in this district today.
The clash occurred during a bandh called by the BJP to protest against the alleged attack by a section of people during a religious procession on the eve of the Dussera festival last night.
Police said the two groups pelted stones at each other when BJP workers allegedly forced shops to close down.
Nobody was injured, police said.
The agitation turned violent when a section of people set fire to two shops in the town. Furniture was totally destroyed in the shops.
The situation is now under control, police said.
