Two arrested in clash over party symbols
Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu Oct 4 (UNI) Police today arrested two persons after a clash broke out between AIADMK and Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) volunteers over allocation of wall space for writing their party symbols at Enathur village for the local body elections.
Police said while the AIADMK-men were painting their symbol on the wall before the residence of one Amirthammal, a group of DMDK members argued that the place belonged to them. The heated argument between the two parties turned physical.
Five injured AIADMK members were admitted to the Government Hospital here.
Based on a complaint from the AIADMK, a police party rushed to the spot and arrested two DMDK men. They were identified as Mathi(33), Paneer Selvam (30).
Police were also on the look out for four more DMDK workers.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway, police added.
