Three UNLF militants arrested from IGI airport
New Delhi, Oct 4: Three militants belonging to the United National Liberation Front (UNLF) have been arrested while on way to Kathmandu from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here.
The arrests of Jayant Kumar, Ghanshyam and Shyam Kumar, belonging to the Manipur militant outfit, were arrested on October two evening, said DCP (Special Cell) Alok Kumar.
''They were on way to Kathmandu to attend a meeting of their outfit. They were travelling on forged documents. Of those arrested, two are of the lieutenant colonel rank in the militant outfit,'' said Mr Kumar.
A pen drive containing details of army and para military forces deployment in the North-East were recovered from their possession. It also contained details of the outfit's various sources of funding, said the DCP.
Sources said the arrests were made in a joint operation of the intelligence bureau, immigration officers and the Delhi Police.
The arrests were made following a tip-off, said a senior police official, adding their objectives were yet to be known.
Meanwhile, the airport committee meeting is being held to review the security situation at the airport.
