The JK govt defied the court verdict: Migrants
Jammu, Oct 4 (UNI) The Migrants Commitee Talwara Camp, which is fighting for the rights of Jammu migrants, today alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir government was adopting a highly discriminating attitude towards the Jammu migrants.
The migrants came to these safe places in Jammu province when they were forced to leave their homes in 1999-2000 by terrorists.
Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party leader Anita Thakur said the Supreme Court on November 25, 2002, directed the state and the central governments to provide relief to all the genuine migrants but the state government has not implemented the apex court's so far.
''Party President Prof Bhim Singh moved the Supreme Court and has been for the rights and survival of nearly 5000 migrants of the area and got verdict about them,'' she said adding that the state government did not care to implement the order in spite of heavy protests by the Panthers Party and the migrants.
Ms Thakur said the Jammu and Kashmir High Court also directed the state governmentto provide relief to all the Jammu migrants at par with the Kashmiri migrants but the state government defied the High Court and such a defiance continues till date.
