Special security meeting held at NSCBI airport
Kolkata, Oct 4 (UNI) A special security meeting of the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF), the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Airlines officials was held today at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) airport here.
The meeting reviewed the situation following warning by the Central intelligence agencies of possible attempts to hijack flights, especially those to Kathmandu by terrorists protesting the death sentence of Afzal Guru, accused of masterminding the attack on Parliament in 2001.
Airport officials said flights bound for Kathmandu were put on a special watch keeping in mind the hijacking of Indians flight IC 814 from Kathmandu to Delhi in December, 1999, by terrorists demanding the release of Masood Azhar from prison.
The meeting was attended by Mr S R Prasad, DIG, CISF, Mr Vijay Monga, Airport Director, NSCBI airport and other AAI officials besides representatives of different airlines operating from the airport.
