Sonko, Niang out of Senegal's Nations Cup qualifier

DAKAR, Oct 4 (Reuters) Defender Ibrahima Sonko and striker Mamadou Niang have withdrawn from Senegal's squad for Saturday's African Nations Cup qualifier in Burkina Faso, officials said on Wednesday.

Both were injured in action for their clubs at the weekend.

Niang, from French club Olympique Marseille, has been replaced by Demba Toure of Grasshoppers Zurich and Senegal coach Henryk Kasperczak has added Badara Sene from Ligue 1 club Sochaux to the squad as cover for the Group Seven game.

Sonko again misses out on the chance of a debut after impressing in recent performances for English Premier League club Reading.

Officials said there was also concern over the fitness of Troyes defender Ibrahima Faye, who has a back injury.
