Sector 16 Stadium to have flood lights soon
Chandigarh, Oct 3 (UNI) The Chandigarh sports authority today said the upgraded Sector 16 Cricket Stadium for the ICC Trophy practice matches, scheduled for October 4 and 5 featuing will soon have modern floodlights.
Chandigarh Sports Director Inderjit Singh Sandhu and chief engineer V K Bhardwaj told UNI here.
''The process for equipping the Sector 16 Cricket Stadium with floodlights and latest electronic scoreboard would begin soon after the ICC Trophy matches,'' they said, adding that pavilion at the block D at the hospital end would be constructed to provide better facilities to the spectators.
Bhardwaj, himself a keen cricketer, said that permanent structure for print and electornic media had been constructed. The press box will be soon equipped with internet, fax and phone facilities.
With more construction, the seating capacity of the stadium has gone up to 25,000.
Mr Sandhu said more than 7,000 cricket fans are expected to watch the practice matches tomorrow.
