RSS BJP attack CPI-M for 'lobbying' for Chinese FDI

New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the BJP have taken exception to the 'unusual lobbying' for Chinese investments in ports and communication sectors by the Communist parties, overriding the national security concerns expressed by intelligence agencies.

The Organiser, the RSS mouthpiece both in its editorial as well as its front page story, attacked the CPI-M for its stance on investments of Rs 61,000 crore in 13 Indian ports after its General Secretary Prakash Karat sought the government to spell out the security considerations for blacklisting the Chinese companies.

''When the Intelligence Bureau and RAW and the Defence Ministry are unanimous in opposing Chinese entry in Indian Ocean region, the CPI-M leader is echoing the concerns expressed by Chinese envoy Sun Yuxi's allegations of unequal treatment,'' the Organiser said. The Chinese are building Gwadar deep sea port in Pakistan and it could pose serious threat to maritime security, the mouthpice said.

The RSS criticised Mr Karat for 'lobbying' for FDI by a particular foreign firm when the political parties maintain a 'safe distance' from such deals. ''The CPI got split on the issue of one section's support to China during the 1962 aggression from that country. The CPI-M kept its 'Chinese patriotism' behind a clever facade ... but the power without responsibility the party has come to enjoy has made it very brazen,'' the newspaper wrote.

When it comes to China, CPI-M doesn't mind brokering deals. When it comes to conceding the country's geographic boundaries, the party has no problems, if the beneficiaries were China, Pakistan or Bangladesh, the mouthpices alleged. Even a Supreme Court verdict can be set aside if it will save the life of a terrorist, the paper noted caustically referring to the CPI-M asking the President to pardon convicted terrorist Mohammad Afzal in the Parliament attack.

BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley on his part blasted the CPI-M for its PR campaign for Chinese telecom company. For the first time, a political party is lobbying for a firm, he said noting that these Left parties didn't mind using their numbers in Parliament to lobby for a foreign firm.
