Road Race Cycle Championship begins Oct 7

Rajahmundry, Oct 4 (UNI) A two-day state level Road Race Cycle Championship would be held here on October seven and eight, according Jakkampudi Raja, President of 'Sneha', the voluntary organisation conducting the event.

Talking to newspersons here along with East Godavari District Cycling Association Secretary P Rukmakara Rao, he said, candidates would be selected from this event for national championship to be held from October 26 to 30 at Jabalpur.

Mr Raja and Mr Rao said road race cycle championship would be held for four categories - under 13, under 15, under 17 and under 19.

About 250 to 300 boys and girls were expected to participate in the two-day event. Free accommodation and free boarding facilities would be provided to the participants, they added.

Mr Rao told UNI that both racing cycles and ordinary cycles would be allowed in the event. The district would also host national cycling championship during December.

He said district women cricket association would also be formed soon and AICC member Jakkampudi Vijayalakshmi would be the Chairperson.
