Retreating Monsoon brings in heavy rains
Kolkata, Oct 4 (UNI) Kolkata today experienced widespread thundershowers brought in by the retreating monsoon giving some respite from the past few days' sultry heat.
The Met department forecast heavy rains in the next 48 hours.
''The monsoon will remain in the state for five to six days more,'' they added.
They also forecast a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain at isolated places during the period.
Met sources said a cyclonic circulation had been lying over the sub-Himalayan part of the state and Sikkim extending upto one km in the atmospheric level. Under its influence the northern part of the state would experience heavy rains.
Today's maximum temperature was 34.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum 26 degrees Celsius, while the humidity stood at 97 per cent.
