Pvt sector to market SSI products: Chidambaram
New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) Finance Minister P Chidambaram today urged the small scale industries (SSI) to go in for new technologies and said the government would involve the private sector in selling their products both in India and abroad.
''I urge the SSI to devote major part of their work to new technologies...,'' Mr Chidambaram said while inaugurating the four-day National Expo of Small, Khadi, Village and Coir Industries.
I also urge the government departments to involve the private sector to market the products of SSI both in India and abroad, he added.
He said the increase in the sale of these products would lead to increase in their production and generation of more job opportunies.
''More and more people will be using these products and more and more people will be employed,'' he added.
He assured the government would continue to devote resources for the development of these industries and their products.
Mr Chidambaram later went to different stalls at the Expo.
