Portugal's Meira and Almeida to miss Euro qualifiers

LISBON, Oct 4 (Reuters) Defender Fernando Meira and striker Hugo Almeida have withdrawn from Portugal's squad for their Euro 2008 Group A qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Poland.

Meira has recovered from a leg injury but is not fully fit while Almeida has an abdominal injury.

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has not called up replacements for the home game with Azerbaijan on October 7 and the away tie in Poland four days later.

Portugal were held to a 1-1 draw in Finland in their opening match in Group A, which also features Serbia, Belgium, Kazakhstan and Armenia.
