Plane emergency lands at Tehran airport
TEHRAN, Oct 3 (Reuters) A Iranian passenger plane today made an emergency landing at an airport in Tehran but aviation officials denied an initial report that said it had done so after an engine caught fire.
''The plane just had technical problems and the pilot had to make an emergency landing,'' civil aviation official Reza Jafarzadeh told Reuters, denying there was a fire. He also said the passengers were all safe.
An official from Iran Air, the company operating the plane, also cited a technical problem not a fire.
Iran's Fars News Agency reported that the passenger plane made the emergency landing at Tehran's Mehrabad airport after an engine fire. It had said ambulances were at the scene.
