NE Industrial policy to have a facelift
Aizawl, Oct 04 (UNI) The Centre's Industrial Policy and Promotion department is preparing a feasibility report to revise the North East Industrial Policy (NEIP) of 1997.
The report is being prepared by the department in consultation with state governments in the region and a detailed blue-print is being prepared for the infrastructure development in NE, officials here today informed.
The report would decide the level of assistance from the Centre to be given in terms of infrastructure development in industrial estates, they said.
Currently, the NE region is getting consessions and subsidies from the Centre for industrial developments through NEIP 1997 and the policy is scheduled to expire soon if not revied.
As per NEIP, a number of specified industries in the region are exempted from Excise duty and IT .
Besides, the capital investment subsidy and transport subsidy are also part of the policy, the officials added.
