Murder accused crushed to death
Ujjain, MP, Oct 4 (UNI) A man was crushed to death by a truck while fleeing police custody after he was arrested for murdering his father over land dispute, police said today.
The incident took place at Etawa village in this district yesterday.
Amar alias Umrao, who intervened when his sons -- Rajaram and Dayaram -- were engaged in an argument over land dispute on October 2, was hit on his head by a stick and fell unconscious. He died late in the night.
Even when preparation for cremation was in progress, both brothers quarelled again yesterday when villagers informed police.
On reaching the spot, police learnt that Rajaram had beaten his father with sticks leading to his death.
A police team was taking Rajaram to police station on a motorcycle when the latter tried to escape after the bike slowed down near a railway crossing. He ran frantically and was crushed by a truck. Rajaram died on the spot.
