MK, Jaya to begin poll campaigns
Chennai, Oct 4 (UNI) Chief Minister and DMK President M Karunanidhi and AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa are slated to begin their election campaign for the October 11 by election to Madurai Central Assembly Constitutency and two phase local body poll from tomorrow.
While Mr Karunanidhi will hit the campaign trail from Tirunelveli tomorrow, Ms Jayalalithaa is leaving for Madurai tomorrow evening to canvass votes for her party candidate Rajan Chellappa for two days from October six.
She would also share dais with MDMK General Secretary Vaiko and leaders of other allied parties to address a public meeting on October seven.
The AIADMK supremo would address election meetings in Tiruchirapalli on October eight, Salem on October nine and Chennai on October ten.
Mr Karunanidhi is scheduled to address a public meeting along with leaders of DPA allies in Madurai on October six.
Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) president Vijayakanth was already camping at Madurai to campaign for his party candidate for the Assembly by-election.
Madurai Police had made elaborate security arrangements in view of the convergence of political leaders on the city at the same time.
