Kerala to go ahead with Smart City Project: Chief Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 4 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today informed the state Assembly that the government would go ahead with the Smart City Project at Kochi.

In a written reply to Prof K V Thomas (Cong) and others, he said discussions in this regard with the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority (Tcom) was progressing.

Mr Achuthanadan said the main activities of the 'Tcom', a Dubai based firm, was to encourage industries in various field, capitalising the modern technological facilities.

The functioning of the firm was equal to the functioning of the Technopark and Infopark, he added.

Stating that the government had no plan to bring ''Big City'' project in place of the Smart City, the Chief Minister said three other companies like PWC Logistic, a Kuwait based firm and Emmar MGF, functioning in India and Dubai had also expressed their willingness to open IT parks in the state.

Mr Achuthanandan said the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) was considering to set up an IT park and Golf Course in the surplus land owned by the company.
