Kerala HC directs payment of Rs 15 lakh to Punjab DGP's daughter
Kochi, Oct 4 (UNI) The Kerala high court today directed Aluva Rural SP Vikramjit Singh to give Rs 15 lakh to his estranged wife Dr Jasleen, the daughter of Punjab DGP S S Virk, and also told the couple to return to each other the gold ornaments exchanged as gifts at their wedding.
Justice J M James also directed Dr Jasleen to withdraw the case that she had filed against Mr Vikramjit Singh in a Pune court, alleging harassment.
The court directions came after an over two-hour-long meeting with the couple in the judge's chamber, at which the Punjab DGP also was present.
Justice James had called the couple for reconciliation after Mr Vikramjit Singh moved an anticipatory bail application following the case filed against him in the Pune court.
The couple told the judge that they had decided to go in for a divorce through mutual consent. Noting this in his order, Justice James directed Mr Vikramjit Singh to return to his wife within two days all her personal belongings lying in Thiruvananthapuram.
He also directed the Aluva SP to give Rs 15 lakh to his wife, spent as marriage expenses, and told both parties to return the gold ornaments that had been exchanged as gifts at the time of the marriage.
The judge directed that the matter be listed for October 20 for the compliance report.
