Kerala company launches hi-tech speed governor
Kochi, Oct 4 (UNI) Kerala-based Craysol Technologies has announced the launch of a new low-cost and hi-tech speed governor based on the 'Intelligent Fuel Management System' (IFMS).
Stating that this was the first time that a company was launching indigenously-developed IFMS-based speed governors in India, Craysol Managing Director E A Noby said that the system had been approved by the Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI).
Craysol, a company working in the field of electronics and software, had applied for a patent for this product, which took more than four years to develop, he said at a press conference here last night.
Mr Noby said the system would not only limit the speed of heavy vehicles to 60 km per hour but also save fuel and reduce smoke emission.
Priced at Rs 9500, the system cost 50 per cent less than the existing market price of other speed governors. It will be launched in the market on October 30, he added.
Technical consultant for the project, Prof. T K Mani, said that normal speed governors used motors and linkages between the accelerator pedal and the fuel injection pump to regulate the speed of the vehicle, involving complex mechanical moving parts.
Unlike these, the IFMS directly regulates the fuel flow to the engine controlled by a highly 'Intelligent Electronic Control Unit' (ECU).
In field tests, this speed governor was found to result in fuel savings worth 75 paise to Re one per kilometer and reduce the smoke emission by 15 per cent, he said.
The company had also developed another patent-pending product iTele, a low-cost Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) solution, which was being used by most petroleum companies at their dealer side, Mr Noby said. Craysol was also associated with Tata Tele Services, providing BPO/Call Centre support for its Indicom product.
