Jawan killed in Manipur blast
Imphal, Oct 4 (UNI) A jawan was killed in a blast today at Kha Potsangbam in Bishenpur district when troops of JK light infantry, moving in a convoy, were attacked by suspected militants.
In the attack militants used IED and in the blast a jawan lost his life while two other sustained bullet injuries. Injured were rushed to the hospital and their condition was stated to be critical.
Additional security was rushed to the area and a combing operation was launched to trace the suspected militants.
Meanwhile, police said three militants were shot dead by troops in two separate incidents during the past 24 hours. Two of them were cadres of Peoples Liberation Army, army sources said.
Arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
Officials said security has been tightened in the state in view of the increasing trend of violence. The SP of Imphal East and the SP of Imphal West further informed that four militants were also nabbed in three separate incidents. All the four militants were nabbed during the operations in the past 24 hours.
