Indian youth delegation to visit China
New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) A 100-member Indian youth delegation will visit China during October 8-17 as part of youth exchange activities between the two countries.
Organised by the Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry, the group comprises youths from Panchayati Raj institutions, sports academics, scholars of Chinese studies, Social workers, folk and cultural artists, quiz winners, Bravery Award winners, Youth with special abilities and young representatives from the media.
The delegation will visit Beijing, Xian, Guanhzhou and Shanghai during their 10-day stay in China. They would visit agricultural enterprise institutions, universities and institutes of physical education and sports in China.
During the visit of the Chinese Premier to India in April 2005, it was decided to launch regular youth exchange activities between India and China. This agreement also found a reference in the Joint Statement of April 11, signed by the two Prime Ministers, which announced the launching of regular youth exchange activities between Indian and China.
During his talk with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Chinese Premier made a proposal to invite 100 Indian youths to China. Dr Singh welcomed the proposal and, in turn, offered to invite 100 Chinese youth to India.
The exchange programme would involve interaction with local youth and visits to tourist and cultural sites. In addition, it will also have elements of educational value, meetings with economic and political personages and interactive sessions in different areas, including culture and sports.
