HP sounds high alert along Chamba border
Chamba, Oct 4 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Government today sounded a high alert along the Chamba border after 64 people from Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir crossed over to the state last night, Chamba SP Upender Thakur today said.
He said the police has tightened vigil along the border with three battalions of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) and one Battalion of ITBP being deployed in the district to prevent inflow of terrorists from the neighbouring state.
Earlier, Tissa SDM R K Sahu had told UNI that sixty four people, including 30 children, 14 women and 20 men of Sawara village in Doda district had crossed over to Himachal last night following threat to their lives from militants.
Mr Thakur said they had already taken up the issue with the J and K authorities who would be visiting the area soon.
State Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh had already said on record that the police authorities were maintaining strict vigil along the border with J and K to check the infiltration of militants.
Earlier, the Tissa SDM said people from the neighbouring state had reached Nodhal Dhar of Chamba district of the state last night after three-days of journey from their village.
He said 30 children, 14 women and twenty men who had entered the state have been brought to Tarela from Nodhal Dhar and were temporarily sheltered in makeshift tents last night.
