HC seeks clarification from state govt on PM's package
Nagpur, Oct 4 (UNI) Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court here has sought a clarification from the Maharashtra government on the implementation of the Prime Minister's relief package for the farmers of Vidarbha.
A bench comprising of Justice Dilip Sinha and Justice R B More has asked the Chief Secretary to clarify whether the funds received under the package have diverted and, if so, how the government proposed to make up for it. The directives came on a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by former MP Prakash Ambedkar, who pleaded his case himself.
Through PIL, Ambedkar has sought directives from the court to the state government to waive off all the outstanding loans of farmers in Vidarbha to provide them succour from distress. The matter has been posted for hearing on October 16.
