Haryana Police to get cellphone Interceptor Devices
Chandigarh, Oct 4 (UNI) The Haryana Government will soon upgrade the functioning of the State Police Department by providing it with Mobile Telephone Interceptor Devices.
Haryana Chief Secretary Prem Prashant told media persons that the new technology would help the police in tracking the exact location of the culprit even if his mobile phone was switched off.
The device would also help in recording the conversation.
He said the move would go a long way in checking the crime rate in the State.
The state government had written to the Centre for the sanctioning of a grant of Rs 177 crore for strengthening the police force and to provide them with the latest and ultra-modern equipment.
Mr Prem Prasant said reforms were also being brought about for strengthening the police force in the state.
He said as per the instructions of the Supreme Court, the Police Reforms would soon be implemented in the state and rules based on the guidelines issued by it would also be formulated As part of these reforms, a State Security Commission and an Establishment Board would be set up at state level. Also, Complaint Authorities would be set up at district as well as state level for looking into the complaints against police personnel.
Mr Prashant said that 22 traffic police stations have been identified for regulating the movement of the traffic in the state.
Provisions were also being made for providing specialised traffic training to the traffic police personnel to help them in managing the flow of traffic and decongesting the local roads, state roads and the national highways.
