Haryana plans mini stadia for rural area

Chandigarh, Oct 4 (UNI) To boost sports activities in rural areas, the Haryana government has decided to set up mini stadia at the block level.

The state government has also made a provision of Rs one crore during the current financial year to promote sports activities in schools, Haryana Sports Minister Phool Chand Mullana said while inaugurating the 41st Haryana State School Sports Competition at Panchkula.

The Minister expressed concern over the increasing influence of the youth towards western culture due to which the children were giving more importance to TV viewing than taking part in sports activities.

He said the western culture was not only spoiling our youth but also adversely affecting their health.

Mr Mullana called upon the students to take keen interest in sports activities, along with studies, for their overall development.

As many as 2800 school children from all over the state are participating in various events in the Sports Competition .
