Haj House issue dominates Rajasthan Assembly
Jaipur, Oct 4 (UNI) The Haj House issue ruled the Rajasthan Assembly today with Treasury and Opposition benches trading charges at each other.
When Congress legislator Mahir Azad asked the state government to clarify its stand on the building of the Haj House, BJP chief whip Mahavir Prasad Jain charged the former of fanning communal passions.
Mr Jain said if such a situation prevails, Haj House will not get built even in 100 years.
Raising the issue of Haj House in Sanganer area during Zero Hour, Mr Azad said due to the controversy and opposition during the Chief Minister's foundation laying ceremony on September 20, the state government should clearly specify whether it will indeed build the controversial building there.
In answer, Mr Jain said Mr Azad had fanned communal passions over the issue by his statements during a press conference where he had said the Haj House protestors would be dealt with strongly and on the streets.
He said Mr Azad's provoking statements has created such a tense situation that it will be difficult to build the Haj House even in 100 years.
On this, many Congress members including Dr Srigopal Baheti stood up and asked about the government's real intentions over the Haj House issue, as on one hand the chief minister has laid the foundation of the House whereas on the other hand, the chief whip is saying it cannot be built in a 100 years.
Amid the din, Speaker Sumitra Singh called Mr Harimohan Sharma to speak on an adjournment motion.
