Govt planning to produce bio-diesel from Jatropha seeds: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 4 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today informed the State Assembly that the Government was planning to produce bio-diesel from the Jatropha seeds.
However, a final decision on setting up of bio-diesel plants either in the private or government sector would be taken only after having a detailed study and a through examination about the project, he said in a written reply.
Though the Government had noted that Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh were producing bio-diesel from Jatropha seeds, to face the diesel price hike, it had not conducted any study in this regard.
Mr Achuthanandan said three companies, Centre for Green Fuel Development, Palakkad, D1 Mohan Bio-diesels, Chennai, Chakkala Community Association of India and Neyyattinkara, had submitted their proposals to the Government in connection with bio-diesel production.
According to their claim, bio-diesel could be sold at prices between Rs 20-25 per litre, he added.
