Gen Rodrigues is president of Cricket Chandigarh

Chandigarh Oct 4 (UNI) The Chandigarh Administration today formed a sports society called 'Cricket Chandigarh' to advise the administration on matters connected with the development of cricket in the Union Territory (UT).

Punjab Governor Gen (retd) S F Rodrigues, who is also the Administrator of the UT, will be the president of the society.

Other office bearers of the society are--- Advisor to the Administrator, Lalit Sharma ( senior vice president); Secretary Sports, S K Sandhu (Vice President ) and Director Sports, Inderjit S Sandhu (Member Secretary).

The other members will include Secretary Education, Krishna Mohan; Chief Engineer V K Bhardwaj; Inspector General of Police Satish Chandra; Deputy Commissioner R K Rao, Joint Director Sports J P S Sidhu and Finance and Planning Officer, Satish Joshi.

The society will suggest several initiatives to conduct events, training camps, to host one-day and Test matches etc with the participation and involvement of sports persons from India and abroad, Secretary Sports, S K Sandhu disclosed here today.

It will also operate and manage a residential or non-residential Cricket Academy for imparting training to youngsters with the aim of churning out players, who may excel at the international level.

It will engage professional technical experts, coaches and trainers for this purpose.
