Sonia to lay foundation stone of IIM Shillong
Shillong, Oct 4: Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi will lay foundation for the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) here in second week of November.
This was announced by Meghalaya Chief Minister J D Rymbai here yesterday after inspecting the site for the Institute at Mawdiangdiang village about 12 km from here.
Recently, Mr Rymbai said he had extended the invitation to Mrs Gandhi during the just concluded Congress Chief Ministers Conference held at Nainital in Uttranchal.
This will be the seventh IIM of the country.
At present, there are six such institutes at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Indore, Kozhikode and Lucknow.
Meanwhile, state Chief Secretary S K Tewari told UNI here that the academic session of the prestigious business school would be held at Mayurbhanj complex in Nonthymmai from next year, till a permanent complex for the B-School is identified and constructed.
The recruitment would be done by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The IIM would have a tentative capacity of 30 to 40 students.
