DTH operator Tata Sky asks Sun to share its channels
New Delhi, Oct 4: Tata Sky, a Tata-Star Direct To Home(DTH) TV venture, has asked the Sun group to release its signals after it failed to receive the channels of the south India based broadcaster.
Tata Sky CEO Viram Kaushik said here his group had sent a formal communication to Sun after talks with them failed to produce any result.
He was talking to reporters here on the sidelines of the India Broadband Digital Networks Forum organised by indiantelevision.com and Media Partners Asia(MPA) here yesterday.
Mr Kaushik said the Sun group was there on the DTH platform of Doordarshan and cable networks, so Tata Sky had also the right to receive their channels.
A similar row had arisen between the country's first private DTH operator Dish TV and Star when the latter refused to share its channels with them. Dish TV finally got Star signals when the latter launched TataSky in mid August, thus becoming the second private company offering DTH TV.
Sun TV too will soon be launching its DTH platform.
