DoNER lauds sustained peace
Aizawl, Oct 4: Union Tribal Affairs and Development of North East Region (DoNER) Minister P R Kyndiah lauded Mizoram's 20 years of sustained peace, which has paved way for the state's overall development.
Speaking at a seminar on peace and development in NE region, Mr Kyndiah said after the signing of the peace accord in 1986 the state had emerged as the most developed one in the entire region.
The state boasts to have the second highest literacy rate in the country and with present scenario would soon emerge as an important corridor in the South East Asia, he added.
'' The state government had received peace bonus from the Centre few years back as a reward for their commitment to maintain peace,'' Mr Kyndiah said.
He also said today the Mizos are enjoying equal opportunity in sharing political power and are marching ahead towards development.
''Peace is pre-requisite for development and Mizoram is the best example,''he added.
