Curfew imposed in Kalamnuri town of Hingoli District

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 4 (UNI) A curfew was today imposed in Kalamnuri town of central Maharashtra's Hingoli district, after a dispute between two groups over an alleged attempt to disturb communal harmony.

Though, there was no incident of violence a curfew was imposed in the town since 0600 hrs as a precautionary measure. A review of the same would be taken at 1800 hrs at a meeting of the district administration, Hingoli's District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satish Khandare told UNI over telephone from the troubled Kalamnuri town, where he was camping to monitor the situation.

According to Mr Khandare, the town witnessed some trouble after a group of people leading the procession of Goddess Durga abandoned their procession, halfway following an objection raised by another group over playing drums near the place of worship.

The Kalamnuri police have registered two separate cases and have detained few people, police sources said.

Mr Khandare further said the investigation was on and more arrests were being made.
