Curfew extended to Kalamnuri town in Hingoli Dist
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Oct 4 (UNI) The authorities have extended curfew till 0600 hrs tomorrow morning that was today imposed in Kalamnuri town of central Maharashtra's Hingoli district, about 235 km from here, after a dispute between two groups over an alleged attempt to disturb communal harmony.
Though there was no incident of violence, a curfew was imposed in the town since 0600 hrs today as a precautionary measure. The authorities have decided to extend the curfew till tomorrow morning, after a meeting of the peace committee, District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Satish Khandare told UNI over telephone from Kalamnuri, where he has been camping to monitor the situation personally.
The Kalamnuri town witnessed some trouble after a group of people leading the procession of Goddess Durga abandoned their procession halfway following an objection raised by another group over playing drums near the place of worship.
The Kalamnuri police have registered two separate cases and have rounded up about 20 people in this connection, Mr Khandare added.
