Chief Justice of Bombay High Court administered oath
Mumbai, Oct 4 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna has administered the oath of office to Justice Harjeet Singh Bedi as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court at a simple ceremony held at Darbar Hall, Raj Bhavan here.
According to an official release here today, prior to his appointment in the Bombay High Court, Justice Bedi was a senior Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
He was born on September five, 1946. He belongs to a family of agriculturist from Montogomery, now in Pakistan. His father Tikka Jagjit Singh Bedi was also a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and retired in 1969.
He was also the Advocate General of Punjab and was designated a senior advocate in 1987. He was appointed as Additional Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on March 15, 1991.
Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal, former Chief Justice of India Y V Chandrachud, Director General of Police Dr P S Pasricha, Justice Bedi's mother and other top government officials were present at the function, the release added.
