Centre clears for SRSP floodflow canal

Hyderabad, Oct 4 (UNI) The Union Governemnt today cleared the Rs 212 crore SriRamSagar Project floodflow canal project under the Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme.

The Centre snctioned Rs 63 crore as first instalment during 2006-07, a release from the Chief Minister's office said.

It said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, on a visit to New Delhi, would meet Union Rural Development Minister Raguvansh Prasad Singh mainly to request sanction of an additional four lakh houses under the Indira Awas Yojana, to meet the demand in flood affected areas of the State.

These would be in addition to 1.38 lakh houses sanctioned for 2006-07.
