Casio, HCL to distribute digital cameras in Indian market

New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) Casio India Co Pvt Ltd and HCL Infosystems Ltd today announced that they have entered into a strategic tie-up for marketing, selling, servicing and distribution of Casio digital cameras in India.

HCL, besides taking the entire range of Casio digital cameras across the country, would also be adding these products to portfolio at HCL Digilife outlets by initially reaching around 25 key Indian markets within next six months.

''This is an exclusive tie-up with HCL and we will be selling the products to them only,'' said Casio India Co Pvt Ltd Managing Director T Kyoden.

The company is confident of strengthening and re-affirming its presence in India, he added.

Indian digital camera market at a total of around Rs 250 crore, is expected to gross more than 100 per cent annual growth in the years to come. IDC, leading international analysts, claim that India would be amongst the largest growing global markets for digital cameras and will cross Rs 1000 crore benchmark by 2010.

Commenting on the tie-up, HCL Infosystems Executive Vice President (marketing) George Paul said, ''We will be evaluating more plans in the future and we are setting up retail shops for distribution of the entire range of digital cameras.'' Casio have recently introduced several advanced products, including Exilim - their largest selling 'slim' digital cameras brand. The products in this range include EX-Z600, EX-Z60, EX-S600, EX- Z850 and EX - Z1000 which offer as much as 10 mega -pixels capacity and host of unique features such as anti-shake digital signal processors.
