BJP condemns attack on Goddess Durga procession

Hyderabad, Oct 4 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh unit of the BJP today condemned the attack on the Goddess Durga procession at Bodhan town in Nizamabad district last night.

Talking to newspersons here, party State President N Indrasena Reddy and General Secretary Dr K Lakshman said stone throwing on the procession, burning of shops of a community and physical attacks ''reflected the increasing Jihadi trends in the state, with the patronage of the state government.'' They said while Hyderabad was increasingly turning into a Centre for several destructive activities and conspiracies taking place all over the country, district headquarters were also turning into centres of activity for ''Pakistan provoked activities.'' Alleging that all the political parties including the TDP and the Communists were competing with each other for getting the votes of Muslims, the two leaders criticised CPI(M) MP Madhu and TDP MP Lal Jan Pasha for visiting the family members of Shakil, who had planned for large-scale destruction in Hyderabad.

They warned that if this trend continued, BJP would launch an agitation.
