Bank strike detrimental for state economy: Chamber
Kochi, Oct 4 (UNI) Taking strong exception to bank strike in the state, Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry President John K Paul today said the strike has hampered the business operations and incurred huge loss to industrialists in the State.
In an Official release here, Mr Paul said the banks were closed for the last four days due to holidays and strike, incurring crores of loss to the industrialists in the State.
He said instead of calling for a strike, the problem should have been resolved through talks by the authorities concerned. The industrialists and businessmen were made 'scapegoats' at the expense of one bank, he added.
Yesterday, bank employees, including officers, went on a one-day token strike in support of the employees of the Lord Krishna Bank, who were on an indefinite agitation against the proposed merger of the LKB with the Centurion Bank of Punjab.
